Intro to Granny Squares

Up your crochet skills with granny squares! This class will introduce crochet students to granny square basics while making a cozy cowl project.
This is a two week class where students will learn
- Working in rounds
- Changing colors
- Slip stitch seaming
- Finishing with a shell stitch border.
This class is perfect for advanced beginners excited to work their first granny squares or intermediate students who enjoy a make-a-long style class!
The dates for this class are on Fridays, 10/25 and 11/8 from 6-8pm. There is a week between classes to give students time to finish their granny squares before seaming them together in the second class.
Materials Needed
- Harvest Cowl pattern (Included! Will be emailed prior to class)
- DK Weight Yarn - The sample cowl uses Dye Mad Minnie DK (246 yds) in 5 colors. Students are welcome to use as many colors as they'd like! But this cowl can be made with as few as 2 skeins of Minnie DK, repeating each color every other round.
- Hook - US G/4mm Hook
- Darning needle, scissors, measuring tape.
Note: This is also a great stashbusting or scrap yarn project! One full skein of main color yarn is recommended, along with the yardage amounts below.
Main Color - At least 150 yds
Color A - 25 yds
Color B - 30 yds
Color C - 50 yds
Color D - 60 yds

Prerequisites
This is NOT a beginner level class, but a great class for an advanced beginner! Students must already know how to single and double crochet comfortably. This class is ages 17+.
