Justice

The next card in our deck is Justice, representing the scales of Libra!

Justice's typical depiction is not unlike its sister sign's card of the Emperor - it features a human (the figure of Justice) sitting upon her chair, in front of a loosely hung veil. Justice holds a sword pointing upward in her right (logical) hand. The sword is a double-edged blade. In her left (intuitive) hand, she holds the scales. Justice wears a crown on her head and a red robe with a green mantle.

Last month's card of the Hermit encouraged you to focus on your own journey of self-discovery. This month's card of Justice is an accountability card. She represents justice (naturally), fairness, truth, and the law. If you have acted in alignment with your highest self and for the greater good, you will have nothing to worry about! If you haven't... Justice will know and there will be consequences (ah, the double edged sword!) This isn't to say Justice is merciless. You will be treated fairly, but you have to be ready to take responsibility for your actions and stand accountable for the consequences.

Pulling the Justice card upright is about not only justice, but karma, consequences, accountability, law, truth, honesty, integrity, cause and effect. If you are seeking justice, pulling it upright is a sign that it's coming. Once you have that decision, you must move on - there are no retrials or second chances. This card also often appears when you need to make an important choice with the potential for long-term repercussions. Be aware of the impact your decisions will have on your well-being and the well-being of others.

Ultimately, Justice is about the search for truth. In that search, you will find things are not as clear-cut as you had thought. You will have to move forward into uncertainly and unclear territory to explore what truth means to you. Is there a difference between what you believe to be true, and what you believe to be fair and ethical? Be prepared to challenge yourself.

Reversed, you fucked up, didn't you? You know you did something you weren't supposed to, and you did it anyway. I mean, other people might know, so you have the choice to either hide it and hope no one finds out, or... you can own up to your mistakes and take accountable. Those are your two options, friend. I mean, you can try to avoid taking full accountability and blame others for your mistakes, but Justice reversed knows what you're doing. You do, too, ultimately. You are being dishonest with yourself and others – and your unwillingness to look beyond your own fears and ego blinds you to the broader lesson. Assess your situation once more, this time intending to discover where you can accept responsibility.

Alternatively, maybe you're being too hard on yourself (ahh, the double edged sword AGAIN!) - your inner critic is watching you a little harder than they need to. Justice requires compassion to work, so show yourself some, too.

Ultimately, Justice is about accountability and fairness, to you and those around you. You cannot lie and achieve justice, but neither can you be merciless and find her. Like Libra's scales, it's about finding a balance.

Our Justice yarn aims to find a balance - between gold and silver, with a background of blue and a speckling of red.
