December ‘25 YOTM: Burn Out

This month’s yarn is very 70s themed! Our color way is called BURN OUT, and maybe I’m talking about burnout velvet (set to make a comeback, so when you see it next year, you can think of us) or maybe I’m talking about the feeling of burn out. The color inspiration was a burnt match, so naturally your extra this month is a book of matches! 

My spouse’s grandfather collected matchbooks, which used to be a common piece of swag at restaurants and hotels (you know, when ashtrays were a common thing to find in people’s houses). While I’ve never enjoyed even the concept of a cigarette, matches are useful and I think they should still be a souvenir swag - bring back cool souvenir swag! It’s way more interesting and practical than a business card! You can light candles! OR BURN YARN. 

Yes, if you didn’t know, you can light stuff on fire to get a rough idea of what material your yarn (or fabric) is made from! If it smells like hair when you burn it, goes out slowly and leaves a dark ash, you’ve probably got wool! If it melts into a bead, you’ve got some kind of synthetic.
