The High Priestess
$6.00As spring arrives, so does the High Priestess!
In most interpretations of the High Priestess card, she sits in front of a thin veil decorated with pomegranates. On either side of her are two pillars, marking the entrance to the temple (one is black, one is white: there's a lot of duality in this card)! She wears a blue robe with a cross on her chest and a diadem. In her lap, she holds a scroll, partly covered.
While the Magician was about manifesting and the conscious mind, the High Priestess delves into the subconscious, the teacher of sacred knowledge and mysteries. She sits at the threshold of the conscious and unconscious mind and has the ability to travel between these realms. She is trying to teach you that the world is not always what it seems and there are bigger and more profound influences at play than you might think. She is offering an intuitive understanding of the universe, a heightened aware of secret information.
Upright, she is a sign of the divine feminine, of intuition and sacred knowledge, of the subconscious mind at work. She shows up when the veil is thin, when you have the opportunity to access knowledge deep within your soul. Ultimately, it is worth knowing that the answers you're seeking come from within, from your highest self. She is encouraging you to follow your intuition, and the more you listen to your intuition, the more it will flow.
Reversed, she represents secrets, withdrawal, silence, severance, a disconnection from your intuition. She calls on you to sit, be still, direct your attention inward. Have you been swept up in other people's drama? Caught up in others' opinions or gossip? Focus on what is right for you. It is time to withdraw a bit from the external world. Have you been struggling with doubt? Feeling silly or guilty? Done something you know in your heart that maybe you shouldn't have done if you had listened to yourself? She could also be hinting that maybe you are the subject of gossip, secrets and hidden agendas.
Ultimately, the High Priestess isn't a 'worldly' card - it is a call to center yourself, to bring your depth to the surface, and to recenter yourself to who you are at your core.
Our High Priestess has a hint of sky blue, with periwinkle and pansy, then finished with gold and silver speckles.
