Fetus in a Jar

This is an old post, imported from a previous blog. The photos are also old, but maybe one day they'll be replaced or updated.

It's a fetus in a jar! This is an old pattern of mine that's a little on the trickier side. I plan to make a crochet-a-long video at some point in the future, just to make it a little easier to follow the pattern. This is a fun gift for your favorite med student, abortion provider, pro-choice organizer, or general weirdo in your life. This was also one of the first patterns to get me threats and mean comments on the internet! Never change, internet, never change (ok, but please do).

Umbilical Cord:

1. Cut three pieces of yarn the same length, two pink and one red (or vice versa)

2. Thread them into the belly button area of fetus. You should effectively have six strings.

3. Mix up the colors if you'd like for a more interesting pattern. Divide into three sections and braid the umbilical cord.

4. Cut a short piece of string and tie around the end of the braid to keep it from unraveling.
